Description

We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to join a healthcare organization in Glen Allen, Virginia. The role involves managing medical collections and billing, comprehending medical claims, and maintaining an understanding of the collections process. This role offers a contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Understand the medical collections process and assist the collections team when needed

• Familiarize yourself with medical billing and claims

• Process and manage medical billing tasks

• Maintain accurate records of customer credit and payments

• Resolve customer credit inquiries in a timely and efficient manner

• Monitor customer credit accounts and take necessary actions for delinquent payments

• Stay updated with the latest industry practices and regulations related to medical billing and collections

• Ensure compliance with healthcare industry regulations and standards in all tasks

• Collaborate with the team to achieve set targets and goals

• Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare industry, specifically in a role related to medical billing.

• Demonstrable expertise in medical billing procedures and medical claims processing.

• Proficient in handling medical collections and following up on unpaid accounts.

• Must possess strong analytical skills to accurately interpret billing and coding guidelines.

• Proficiency in using medical billing software and electronic health records systems.

• Advanced knowledge of healthcare regulations and medical terminologies.

• Excellent communication and customer service skills for liaising with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers.

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality according to applicable laws and regulations.

• Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy.

• Strong organizational skills to manage large volumes of patient accounts and insurance claims.

• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, finance, or a related field is preferred.

• Certification in medical billing or coding is advantageous.

• Must be able to demonstrate problem-solving skills and initiative in improving billing procedures.
