Purpose

Job Summary

Accomplishes department objectives by maintaining sanitary, orderly, and attractive work environment in each facility; maintaining a thorough understanding of AAAHC Standards, State, and Federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned or changed)

General Ambulatory Clinic Housekeeping Duties

  • Cleans Clinic public areas, patient waiting room, offices, exam/treatment rooms, lavatories, staff room, hallways, and conference rooms;

  • General cleaning includes but not limited to vacuuming, mopping, washing carpets/floors/windows/handrails/doorknobs;

  • Provides limited custodial services to the Locum Tenant housing, including pickup and replacement of linens and furnishings;

  • All refuse, trash, and garbage shall be collected and removed from facility(s);

  • Biohazard waste will be disposed of in appropriate manner by clinic staff;

  • All glass doors and windows will be cleaned as needed;

  • Provide assistance to other staff as time allows including supply/equipment delivery and other duties that support the KIC mission;

  • Prior to Clinic opening, cleans Medical Records, Reception area, Conference Room, and Medical Director’s office;

  • Each workday morning, Pharmacy will be cleaned after Pharmacy staff arrival per security regulations as follows:

  • Pharmacist must be present, no exception. Employee will not enter vacant area at any time.

  • Floors will be damp mopped as appropriate.

  • Waste containers will be emptied and new liners placed.

  • All horizontal surfaces will be cleaned and chromium will be polished.

  • Sink area will be cleaned and disinfected.

  • Paper towel and soap dispensers will be cleaned and filled.

General Non-Medical Housekeeping Duties

  • Knowledge of appropriate use and application of cleaning solutions and solvents;

  • Knowledge of infection control regulations;

  • Knowledge and ability to carry out rules of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act;

  • Ability to handle weights and loads;

  • Ability and dexterity to use equipment safely.

  • Ability to communicate professionally over the telephone and in person in a positive and clear manner;

  • Ability to manage simultaneously multiple tasks, including telephone, computer operations and in-person visits;

  • Ability to be flexible in order to perform at the highest level as a team player;

  • Ability to utilize maximum degree of professionalism and diplomacy with those who may be experiencing a high degree of stress both mentally and/or physically;

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and able to prioritize assignments;

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all Clinic operations and staff;

Physical Activities and Work Environment

Activities include; standing, sitting, walking, bending, and stooping, climbing on stools and ladders, and routinely lifting and carrying items and boxes up to forty (40) pounds. Use of chemical disinfectants when necessary, and handle hazardous waste appropriately and according to safety regulations.

License(s)

Must possess current valid State of Alaska driver's license or be eligible to receive one within 90 days of hire date and an acceptable driving record for KIC's Insurance carrier.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED required.Minimum six months experience in basic housekeeping and cleaning, use of disinfectants, and hazardous waste handling required.
