ZF North America, Inc. Engineer III - Technical Project Leader in Northville, Michigan

Job Duties: 

Responsible to provide technical direction during process of designing, maturing & implementing advanced innovative systems for automotive (conventional & electrified) powertrain applications; Steer customer product development initiatives, ensuring integration of ZF products into customer projects per ZF standards; Serve as lead technical resource for project development team throughout project lifecycle; Oversee technical content, create schedules & adhere to milestone deadlines of development projects; Represent the development progress of an assigned project; Serves as main point of contact for customer, inclu. conducting regular customer development status meetings & technical reviews; Oversee project development budget; Collaborate with project development engineers across global ZF sites; Liaise between global R&D basic development team and core technology team, & North American direct customer team; Execute change management processes for product designs; Ensure system development, validation, & delivery to customer per guidelines & processes (e.g. ISO26262, IATF 16949, DOORS); Review, understand customer requirements, oversee documentation & incorporate requirements into product design, ensuring linkage of customer & internal product requirements; Ensure internal teams resolve technical issues associated with customer products; Ensure approved detailed drawing package & technical document reports are provided for final product design; and Oversee development product evolution process, checklists, releases and gate deliverables. A hybrid (in-office and telecommute) work schedule is available. Position requires up to 30% travel to domestic and international customer sites and/or ZF facilities (e.g., to attend various meetings; ensure alignment between R&D and Operations; ensure production readiness).

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Product Design & Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, plus 3 years of experience in occupations in which experience with systems and hardware projects was acquired, and demonstrated experience with: Specific components, including Gate Driver Boards and HIL Boxes; Integration of Inverter Technology in a Vehicle System; DC-DC converter technology used in automotive application; IBM DOORS; Clear Case/Clear Quest; Microsoft VISIO; SAP Analytics Cloud, Problem solving methods 8D, or Ishikawa; IATF 16949; Automotive Spice; ISO26262; CAD Data; Auto CAD; and PSPICE.
