Summary

Under general supervision, provides mechanical maintenance/repair support for winery operations at central coast facilities.

Compensation:

Hiring Salary Range Posted: $32.12 - $43.37 / hr

Actual compensation paid within the range will be determined by factors such as the education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Essential Functions

This job description reflects management’s assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

  • Leads machinery trouble-shooting; documents repairs made.

  • Replaces or repairs defective parts.

  • Reassembles equipment and tests for conformance to specifications.

  • Works on assigned projects; responds to emergency maintenance calls.

  • Disassembles malfunctioning equipment; examines and tests mechanisms on large and small pieces of machinery.

  • Inspects, tests and calibrates instruments.

  • Tests equipment and adjusts calibration to ensure equipment is functioning is within specified standards.

  • Interprets technical documents (prints, manuals) as required.

  • Maintains constructive cross-functional relationships.

  • Searches for and executes against continuous improvement opportunities, executes work in a quality fashion.

  • Promotes occupational safety standards; gives others feedback on their safety performance.

  • Interacts with vendor contractors to obtain quotes and ensuring work being performed is at acceptable levels and meeting regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Performs electrical installations; installs wiring and conduit safely in compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.

  • Performs plumbing and piping operations.

  • Operates machining tools, drill presses; performs welding operations.

  • Services pumps and drive system components.

  • Troubleshoots alarms related to key winery systems.

  • Provides preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting services for barrel processing equipment, bottling line equipment, and filtration equipment.

  • Provides preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting services for de-stemmers, presses, and crush pits.

  • Maintains shop machines, tools and facilities.

  • Demonstrates safe behavior; provides feedback to junior technicians on their safety performance.

  • Follows shop safety practices and shop housekeeping practices.

  • Operates electrical test equipment, hand tools, and power tools in a safe manner.

  • Provides general facility maintenance and servicing for other departments, including making and recording routine inspections.

  • Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.

  • Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Associates degree or 2-year Technical Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Maintenance and Repair plus 3 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, production, industrial mechanical or automotive environment.

  • Required to complete and maintain certifications as assigned.

  • Depending on work location may be required to work a rotating shift/schedule throughout the year (day, swing, graveyard, 5x8, 4x10); required to work weekends and overtime when necessary.

  • Candidates for this position must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. Required to obtain a California driver's license or appropriate state driver's license within 30 days of hire.

  • Required to conduct work at heights.

  • Required to lift and carry tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Required to work in a tight and confined space.

  • Required to provide own basic hand tools.

  • Experienced in reading and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.

  • Experienced in writing simple correspondence and procedures.

  • Knowledge of basic electrical concepts.

  • Ability to read electrical schematics.

  • Skilled in the use of MS Word, MS Outlook and MS Excel at a basic level.

  • Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Associates degree or 2-year Technical Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Maintenance and Repair plus 5 years of maintenance experience working on equipment or industrial motors and pumps reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Industrial trade experience to include Refrigeration and HVAC.

  • Project management experience.

  • Basic understanding of PLC's.

  • Experience with maintenance management software; data entry and basic PLC troubleshooting skills.

  • Skilled in forklift and aerial lift operation.

  • Experience working in a food and beverage manufacturing facility.

  • Knowledge of drinking water and waste water systems.

  • Experience maintaining and repairing large production equipment.

  • Operates well in a team setting.

  • Experience writing reports and procedures manuals.

  • Skilled in reading electrical schematics; possess PLC skills.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

  • Experience with solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
