The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Project Manager, New Builds who will be responsible for overseeing general IT projects for all HA Group New Builds. The Project Manager, New Builds will typically be challenged with conflicting project schedules, conflicting priorities between stakeholders, and having to balance resources from a shared service model.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a number of large projects across several HA Group New Builds.This includes core infrastructure deployments but also implementing tactical and small infrastructure components required to support applications and ancillary systems

  • Managing the IT application project plan for new builds, partnering closely with Fleet IT Application teams

  • Verify the correct testing environment and IT / business resources are available to test all applications.

  • Overseeing all aspects that touch IT regarding a specific new build. This includes also handing over the project in to operations and effective transition planning.

  • Capture appropriate metrics to manage the duration and completion of User Acceptance Testing.

  • Coordinate appropriate resources for all ship board testing. Produce appropriate reports for program management. Coordinate closely with the infrastructure project manager. Use Daptiv to manage resource allocation to project. Be accountable for managing overall new build budget. Track requests from various stakeholders and verify accurate delivery. Coordinate ordering of infrastructure hardware and software. Help coordinate shipping of equipment hardware to shipyard

  • Taking projects from original concept through final deployment

  • Managing vendors, HA Group, and other IT teams required by the project

  • Project Management Execution and Control: Define project scope and objectives and develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports. Conduct project meetings and produce meeting minutes and issues logs. Produce risk analysis and risk mitigation plans. Effectively build and manage project budgets. Manage people, work and resources as planned: examples include business analysts, application developers and testers

  • Project Quality: Ensure adherence to Project Management Process, Systems Development Methodology and quality standards for producing project deliverables. Provide project management, technical and analytical guidance to the project team

  • Project Leadership: Interface with all areas affected by the project: examples include business sponsors, operations, application development, end users, computer services, client services, operations, vendors, and Senior IT management

  • Providing required updates to the New Build Program Manager on all aspects regarding each of the New Build Projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Project Management or related field with minimum 7 years’ IT project management experience.PMP or PgMP certification is a plus

  • Experience developing project estimates and resource plans

  • Ability to document coherent and concise project status reports including issues and risks

  • Experience conducting project meetings and subsequently documenting/distributing meeting minutes and action item, including responsibilities for same, in a timely manner

  • Experience progressing complex project schedules, identify and manage the project’s critical path, proactively identifying and escalating risks to project’s schedule, budget or quality

  • Experience tracking project expenses, forecasting future spend, calculating estimates-at-complete and proactively advising of forecasted variances along with proposed corrective action

  • Experience managing the participation of resources assigned to the project and holding them accountable for completing tasks in line with the effort and timeline estimates they provide – escalating issues proactively to resource’s manager to mitigate impacts to project expectations

  • Experience managing a team of resources through all phases of the systems development life cycle including the production of deliverables associated with advancing through the phases. • Experience managing multiple major projects simultaneously utilizing standard project management processes as defined by the Project Management Institute (PMI)

  • Ability to review vendor’s statements of work for completeness and relevance to project objectives

  • Experience managing vendors in the execution of their statement of work and holding them accountable; anticipating/escalating to direct supervisor if gaps or issues

  • Ability to request and obtain commitments for project team resources, preferably via automated processes (ie., enterprise project management tools)

  • Up to 30% domestic and international travel, including occasional visits to the ships in the fleets

Preferences

  • Shipbuilding Experience or Cruise Industry Experience strongly desired.

  • Managing projects of large scale in a global nature that involve construction components.
