The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Sr. Manager, Visual Merchandising & Store Planning who will lead the visual merchandising strategy across the Retail and Photo departments for Holland America Group. In addition, the Sr. Manager is responsible for planning and execution of all renovations and newbuild merchandising, from initial concept to final execution.

  • Business leader for all visual merchandising efforts, including development and execution of standards and best practices

  • Business leader and project manager for all Retail renovation projects, new builds and brand installations

  • Manages external design services and independent contractors

  • Collaborates closely with HA Group Technical Services and Supply Chain on the development of timelines, procurement of materials and expense budgets

  • Works closely with General Merchandise Manager and Planning Manager to form a collaborative team for implementing merchandise strategies

  • Tracks expenses and reconciles invoices

  • Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations

  • Provides on site management for installations and implementations

  • Ensures all material and collateral support merchandising strategies and brand positioning

  • Monitors completion and ensures high quality plan-o-grams, directives and manuals per established timelines and budgets


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate retail with a specific focus on store planning and visual merchandising management.

  • Thorough knowledge and experience of the resort, travel, and duty-free retail industry

  • Ability to read and interpret ship-related general arrangement drawings

  • Ability to read and interpret CAD programs and drawings

  • Proven ability to develop and manage creative and appropriate visual strategies for specified retail environments

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with worldwide ship locations

  • Ability to prioritize and administer workflow, and manage a staff of up to 6

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work well with multiple departments at the corporate and shipboard management level

  • Detail oriented and able to work on multiple high-level projects simultaneously

  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel
