Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated The Sr. Procurement Specialist who will plan, develop and implement contracting strategies and procurement activities on complex, med-high value, med-high risk strategic projects. This role will typically be challenged with responsibility for a myriad of project types while ensuring best value and promoting client confidence and trust.

  • Works with management and stakeholders to plan and implement early procurement opportunities and activities in med-high value strategic projects in the Indirect space.

  • Leads development of project scope and procurement plans; identifies project spend opportunities to leverage Company volume.

  • Use 7-step sourcing process to develop sourcing strategies for Indirect categories.

  • Locates, analyzes, and develops preferred sources of supply, both domestically and internationally to satisfy business requirements.

  • Negotiates, develops, and implements agreements with key suppliers on med-high risk/med- high value projects while using best practices.

  • Applies knowledge of supply chain management, Indirect spend categories, and global markets to ensure product delivery, quality assurance and product problem avoidance and resolution.

  • Enters into and maintains contracts maximizing cost competitiveness and leveraging projects, as well as brand/group level and corporate spend volumes while ensuring that procurements are in compliance with company procedures.

  • Interfaces with other Carnival Corporation operating companies to benchmark spend against marketplace. Participates in and/or leads ABG or specific interdepartmental procurement initiatives to generate savings and efficiencies.

  • Plans, implements, and manages project procurement strategies; leading and coordinating activities between Internal Clients, Supply Chain and Supplier to ensure agreed goals and commitments are achieved.

  • Develops and issues RFx’s, evaluates bids, recommends suppliers and negotiates agreements, monitors and administers agreements and change orders insuring compliance with Company and Department policies and procedures, prepares procurement approval memos.

  • Gathers and interprets data; utilizing key procurement information, system technology, e-commerce and other systems to develop and execute contracts, purchase orders, conduct spend analysis, develop and generate reports.

  • Monitors supplier performance and takes corrective action to ensure goods and services are delivered as contracted.

  • Works with Manager to establish savings targets, tracks, meets and reports savings in monthly reports and other department performance metrics.


  • BS/BA, MBA or demonstrable related work experience.

  • Minimum of 7 years related experience in strategic sourcing and contracting with progressively responsible assignments including project procurement and management, professional services and complex contracting.

  • BS/BA, MBA or demonstrable related work experience,

  • Expert level of negotiation skills and practices, price/cost analysis, contract formation and administration, project procurement, sourcing, distribution and logistics processes.

  • Ability to lead, manage, and influence in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure, while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully.

  • Identify and resolve problems efficiently and effectively.

  • Proficient in the use of computer business applications.


  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional Supply Manager (CPSM) certification
