As a public health advisor senior, within Retail Food Safety and Public Health, Planning & Innovation, you will work as part of the team responsible for ensuring partner and customer trust in safety. The team does this by providing strategic public health insights and technical expertise to the business upstream to enable innovation and create the best jobs in retail. Key areas of focus for this technical team include the following: developing retail food safety and public health standards (e.g., retail food & beverage handling processes; communicable disease and pandemic response; equipment design; and chemical and cleaning); Influencing cross functional teams for the integration of these standards; and applying a lens of health equity within Starbucks.

As a retail public health advisor senior, you will provide subject matter expertise and implementation support for Retail Food Safety and Public Health programs and standards to ensure partner and customer trust in safety and quality every day.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • ·Having knowledge and ability to interpret public health and food safety regulations, standards, procedures, and tools

  • ·Applying public health rational to the development of standards and guardrails in support of innovation

  • ·Applying technical knowledge of public health and food safety to proactively advise cross functional teams and Business Leaders in the evaluation of opportunities pertaining to equipment, store design, in-store procedures, food safety assessments

  • ·Leveraging knowledge and experience to interface with Local and State regulatory authorities and associations to build relationships, clarify interpretation, resolve issues, and gain support for Starbucks program initiatives

  • ·Using multiple sources of information to make recommendations and influence functional and operation leaders in continuous improvement and consistent execution of Retail Public Health and food safety standards

Basic Qualifications:

· 5 years’ experience in retail food safety and public health related field(s) such as:

o Private industry, regulatory or third-party auditing and certification

o Epidemiology and/or disease investigation

o Policy and standards development

o Program management of public health initiatives

Preferred Qualifications:

· BS in Environmental or Public Health, preferred

o Food Safety, microbiology, environmental health, public health

o Health, Food Science, or culinary degree, or related field

· RS or REHS credential
