Technical Project Engineer

The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Technical Project Engineer who will be responsible for driving efficient operations analysis, supporting project development, and developing continuous improvement initiatives in the context of improving the company’s environmental profile within the HA Group Fleet Corporate Technical Projects group.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret available data, develop visualizations, and achieve an understanding or achieve actionable results

  • Develop plan to identify appropriate analytics aligned with efficiency requirements

  • Collaborate with shipboard and shore side management, employees, shipyards and sub-contractors to provide feedback on results of analysis

  • Support the planning phase by identifying resource allocation and onboard support requirements

  • Support the project execution phase by submitting prerequisite documentation and making the necessary arrangements for project performance data collection

  • Support financial planning & forecasting with the project group’s stakeholders as part of the project development process

  • Complete budgeting, return on investment, and post-investment appraisal calculations to support the project implementation path

  • Support ongoing development of process improvements within the administrative side of the group’s project management capabilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external, cross-functional teams to achieve positive results

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in engineering or similar with a strong interest in marine technology, energy efficiency, and driving positive environmental change

  • Demonstrated experience using data to drive change in a business and developing innovative processes to improve the business

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating within cross-functional teams to achieve results

  • Self-starter with a strong interest in developing improvements to existing processes

  • Excellent data analytics capability and interest in utilizing new tools and processes to improve that capability

  • Strong commercial understanding of complex project cost analysis

  • Must be highly proficient in the use of office applications and project planning tools

  • Good working knowledge of marine equipment and systems; current and impending regulations and legislation

  • Must be capable of multitasking and working under pressure to maintain agreed deadline

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with shipboard and shore side management, employees, shipyards and sub-contractors

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting and resolving complex technical and interpersonal challenges

  • Up to 20% domestic and international travel
