    Position Summary:

    $5,000 SIGN ON BONUS - EXTERNAL ONLY To perform routine and specialized examinations in the specialty area of CT, adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results; prepare patients for examinations. This requires independent judgment to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a radiologist.

    Qualifications:

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Associate's Degree in Related Field OR Certificate in Radiologic Technology CERTIFICATION/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS IEMA License OR Temp IEMA upon hire (R) ARRT upon hire (CT) ARRT upon hire OR within 1 year of hire BLS within 30 days of hire EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 1-3 years of experience in/with problem-solving skills, the ability to set priorities, organize work and have excellent interpersonal skills AndFlexibility and the ability to work well with others is required. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.

  • Work may occasionally require travel to other Carle Health facilities

    Essential Functions:

  • Clinical ExcellencePerforms procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages. Maintains working knowledge of equipment in order to function in all aspects of CT.Exhibits competency in performing and filming CT radiographic and specialized proceduresDeviates from routines when the patient's condition requires it or at the request of the radiologistKnowledgeable of invasive procedures, sterile tray set up, assisting radiologist, catheters and guidewires, orders labs and pathology tests, and schedules procedures appropriatelyObtains and documents accurate pre and post procedure information as applicableFollows JCAHO patient safety goalsMaintains quality care throughout the procedureTechnically knowledgeable of equipment operation including hardware and software, CT 1, CT 2, workstation, printersPerforms reasonable trouble shootingChecks and observes equipment for general safety, maintenance, and appropriate operationReports equipment problems through appropriate channelsMaintains clean work area, checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area and verifies pertinent accessories assigned to that room

  • Quality of CarePerforms support functions of the Medical Imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.Promptly processes films and paper work according to proper procedures to ensure timely turn around in providing a report to the physician's officeMaintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, transporting patients to and from the department as requiredPromptly and accurately completes all fields in the HIS STAR Radiology system, i.e. number of films repeated, contrast reaction, exam data entry, start and stop times of examMaintains and ensures a safe environment for patients and personnel and maintenance of the QA, QC, QI programsDemonstrates a practical problem solving approach to patient moving and handling issues.Demonstrates skills to promote patient and staff safety through appropriate use of lift equipment.

  • Relationship BuildingAssumes personal responsibility for training fellow technologists/students and uses time, supplies and other resources productively to promote responsive and cost effective care for our patients.Shares knowledge, guides and encourages fellow technologists/students with proper department protocol and proceduresDisplays a professional attitude in the area toward fellow technologists/students, fostering mutual respect and creating a productive learning environmentCompletes care while conserving resources, preventing waste of suppliesUses slow time to improve area appearance and accept additional assignments such as cassette cleaning, apron testing and film file duties
